Commercial ships
Our ship newbuilding is based at the Mizushima Shipyard in Okayama Prefecture, at which mainly bulk
carriers and tankers are built.
In particular, we have constructed more than 100 Panamax Bulkers, which are the world’s largest
vessels that can pass through the Panama Canal.
The Panamax Bulker Series has established a reputation for unsurpassed quality. We will continue to
pursue the construction of high quality ships.

Medium-sized vessel equipped with cranes for loading and unloading at ports which do not have any loading facilities.

This vessel is newly developed 60,000DWT type SUPRAMAX bulk carrier. The vessel has the large deadweight and achieves highest fuel efficiency under the condition that the length is less than 200m and the maximum draft is less than 13m. The vessel has five cargo holds with hatch opening which is maximized to load various cargos such as grain, ore, coal, hot coil and steel pipe. Four deck cranes are installed for handling cargo at ports which do not have any loading and unloading facilities.
The optimized hull form to improve the performance in actual sea including waves contributes to a better total performance; less fuel consumption, low emission. The vessel achieves Phase 2 level of EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index,the grams CO2 per ton nautical mile) regulation that shall apply to ships for which the building contract is placed on or after 1st January, 2020.
This vessel has alredy become one of our main products as “ECO-ship”.

This vessel is newly developed 82,000DWT type Panamax bulk carrier.
As our mainstay, we have previously constructed a total of over 100 bulkers of 70,000 to 83,000 DWT class.
Based on our past achievements, we have developed a new Panamax bulker which has larger deadweight and cargo hold capacity under the size that can traverse the original locks of the Panama Canal with maximum breadth 32.2m.
Considering eco-friendly and propulsion efficiency, the vessel is equipped with various energy saving devices such as SANOYAS developed “STF” (Sanoyas-Tandem-Fin(patent); max. 6% energy saving) on stern shell and highly efficient appendages on rudder.
The vessel achieves Phase 2 level of EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index : the grams CO2 per ton nautical mile) regulation that shall apply to ships for which the building contract is placed on or after 1st January, 2020. This vessel is highly praised by our customers as an eco-friendly vessel with high efficiency.

This vessel is 104,000DWT type coal carrier which is jointly-developed with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines,
featuring significantly larger deadweight and cargo hold capacity than conventional coal carriers.
The vessel with wide beam and shallow draft has the largest and most flexible size in domestic coal unloading port, and has also enhanced mooring capability against rough sea condition at the wharf. For improvement of propulsion efficiency, the vessel is equipped with Sanoyas’s energy-saving device called the STF (Sanoyas-Tandem-Fin(patent); max. 6% energy saving) .
The vessel has got highly reputations because of its high versatility and environmental performance, and sister vessel has been praised as “Bulk ship of the year” at the International Bulk Journal (IBJ) Awards 2014.

This vessel is new version of Sanoyas 117,000DWT Handy Cape Bulk Carrier featuring wide beam and shallow draft.
The vessel has improved fuel oil consumption by equipping with independently developed energy saving device such as Sanoyas-Tandem-Fin (STF) and highly efficient appendages on rudder, and has top class high eco-friendly performance. The vessel achieves Phase 2 level of EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index,the grams CO2 per ton nautical mile) regulation that shall apply to ships for which the building contract is placed on or after 1st January, 2020.
Mooring Arrangements comply with requirement of New Panama Canal. Moreover, cargo hatches are enlarged as much as possible and the same width from No.1 to No.7 hatch for efficient cargo handling.
This is our main product along with Sanoyas Panamax series well-known in worldwide.

This ship is designed for carrying wood chips for paper. Unlike normal bulkers (for coal, iron ore, grain, etc.), vessels carrying a low specific gravity of chips are measured in terms of cargo hold capacity rather than deadweight capacity. This wood chip carrier is equipped with cranes, hoppers and belt conveyors for enabling efficient unloading of wood chip. We have already constructed more than 50 wood chip carriers, and are the leading shipbuilding yard in Japan for this type of vessel.
The UFO catcher-like giant grab bucket and belt conveyor facilitate efficient loading and unloading of bulk chips.
Aframax Tanker
A tanker mainly used for transporting crude oil. We were the first company in Japan to construct a 44-meter beam Aframax tanker.

The Aframax tanker is a middle-sized tanker for transporting crude oil. Its beam is 44 meters, 2 meters wider than its predecessor, with the largest capacity in the Aframax Class. We developed and constructed Japan’s first 44-meter beam Aframax tanker, boasting a large deadweight at shallow draft. This design enables the vessel to dock at any port which conventional ships of this class cannot access.
Special purpose ships
We build the special purpose ships such as various type of work vessels and car ferries in our Mizushima Shipyard, as well. Our technologies in this field have good evaluation and the work vessel “AUGUST EXPLORER” which we built in 2016 received Special Purpose Award of Ship of the Year 2016.

This vessel is a self-propelled multi-purpose vessel having a jib crane with a hoisting capacity of 500 tons and most advanced Dynamic Positioning System(DPS) ordered by Toyo Construction Co., Ltd. The vessel is designed to be operable continuously for about three months in open sea beyond the Greater Coasting Area (non-international), and can work on not only dredging and offshore-structure construction but also marine survey and exploration with a vessel’s widely open deck area, the accommodation capacity of 52 persons and a seawater desalination plant, etc. Two of four azimuth thrusters are mainly used for navigation, and two other retractable azimuth thrusters and one tunnel thrusters ensure dynamic positioning of the vessel under the heavy weather conditions in the open sea. In addition, the retractable azimuth thrusters, if retracted, allow the vessel to operate at the shallow water up to about 2.7meters. In case of disaster, the vessel can be a support mother vessel for the stricken area, for which it is equipped with about 1,000kl fuel oil tanks, a fresh water generator of 2,000 persons-per-day capacity. The vessel is thus expected to contribute to various services in marine construction area including the Japanese Exclusive Economic Zone.

This vessel was a Ro-Ro/Passenger vessel carring 427 passengers and 39 trucks. The vessel had good maneuvering ability for safety cruising with stern catamaran and combinated collectable picth propeller and bower thruster. The height of car deck floor was 4.3m enough for high roof container trailer to roll on. Trairers could roll on and roll off to the vessel through the bower and stern shore lamp at the same time. Passenger space gives passengers comfortable voyage.
